Essential Bible Verses to Remember for Finals Week Season

“I love finals season” - Nobody.

We have all experienced the weight of finals looming. That familiar sense that you have all the time in the world since the exam is on Wednesday — until it’s Tuesday night at 10pm and you start praying that God would download your textbook to your brain.

We get it.

Which is why we wanted to supply you with 3 truths in scripture you can pray instead during finals season.

  1. Psalm 139 v. 13-14 ESV

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

We are all imperfect beings.

You may look at a fellow classmate or a social media influencer and think, “Wow, they have no problems”. But that simply is not true. The ultimate truth that will help you through any deficiency you may feel academically or just in life is that you are very precious in God’s eyes. You were knitted together by an all-powerful, all-loving God who knows that your value does not come from your grades or successes, but is instead intrinsic because He made you.

You can’t lose your worth and you can’t earn it.

2. Psalm 94:18-19 ESV

“When I thought, "My foot slips," your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

It may be that you get a grade that leaves you disappointed or down because it wasn’t what you expected. When the anxiety or weight of disappointment gets too heavy for you to bear, ask God for consolation in prayer. Let Him know the cares of your heart and consider everything that is true about you in God. For example, thank God for the truth that You can pray to Him when you feel anxious and that He will hear your prayer, that He loves you, or that your sins are forgiven through Christ.

And keep going! You can make it through the final exam season.

3. Galatians 6:2 ESV

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
God knows that life is hard. That’s why He encourages us to live in community with other Christians in order to help each other when the circumstances we are in are hard to handle. If you need someone to talk to or pray with, reach out to a friend or mentor and pray together! It will help you feel a lot better.

Hopefully these truths can help you through the season.

And don’t sweat it, you got this!
